Good Boy Alert!
On June 6, 2019 our shelter pups Macky Mac (recently adopted) and Smokey (still available), became Canine Good Citizen Ready at SPCA Tampa Bay. Once adopted, these sweet boys will just need a quick 30-minute re-test with a trainer to certify them as official “Canine Good Citizens”.
Photos below are happy boy faces, proud to have just passed their test!
The Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Program by the American Kennel Club (AKC) is designed to reward dogs who have good manners at home and in the community. The program test a dog’s skills and manners in different situations such as accepting a friendly stranger, walking through a crowd, coming when called, walking on a loose leash and more. (Learn more about CGC testing here.)

Macky Mac and Smokey passed with their CGC Ready test with flying colors and we couldn’t be more proud!
Both of these pups have been at our shelter over 60-days and this training provided by our own, New Dawn Animal Behavior Center, provides them with mental stimulation and credentials which will hopefully attract potential adopters!
More good news- SPCA Tampa Bay and New Dawn Animal Behavior Center will cover the cost of the re-test evaluation once Macky Mac and Smokey are adopted!
(Below) This certificate currently hung on Smokey's kennel lets visitors know they're looking at a REAL GOOD BOY!
